SECURITY NABS REFUGEE WHO GRABBED GUN FROM POLICE OFFICER IN OBONGI

The  22 years old south Sudanese’s refuge who recently grabbed a gun from one of the police officers  at Morobi distribution center and shot dead his fellow refuge in Palorinya refugees settlement Obongi has been remanded  to Silili  Prison in Moyo district.

It’s believed that the suspected south Sudanese’s refuge identified as Dange Agai who grabbed a gun from SPC Candia Rose Mary attached to Morobi refugee’s settlement following a joint operation was arrested and apprehended on June 27, 2024.

According to SP Dragudu Ignatius the police spokesperson for North West Nile region, on the June 28, 2024, the suspect was taken to court and was remanded to Silili prison waiting to appear before the high court. “Being a capital offense, the suspect was yet be remanded, later he will be produced to high court because that is a capital offense, he will fist stay for some good months” the police spokesperson disclosed.

Meanwhile Samuel Mpimbaza Hashaka the RDC Obongi urged the persons of concern and the members of the community to be security conscious. “Community and the refugees, should always be security conscious because when the guy grabbed the gun from the police officer the refugees where happy clapping but interestingly the same gun was turned against them,” RDC noted

The RDC added that, “Am happy that we have made it through the effort of all the security organs.”

At least after confirming his arrest, calm returned in the entire settlement of Palorinya as the refugees and the members of the host community were living in fear.
