Oyam district woman member of Parliament supports catechists of Ngai Catholic parish with young chickens. A total of 30 servants of God at Ngai catholic parish in Lira catholic diocese have been given 5 chickens each by the Oyam district woman member of Parliament.

Hon. Santa Alum Ogwang, said that this is part of her empowerment project which she started long time ago with the first beneficiaries being the youth and now she has extended the same support to the catechists and their two priests. "I know you are very much committed to doing the work of the Lord which has no pay, this little support I`m giving you today is to help boost your household income you receive it however small it's," she remarked.

Peter Odyek, the supplier of the chickens who is working with Uzima chickens encouraged the catechists to embrace poultry keeping because it is a fast-growing project. "My servants of God, please venture in Poultry keeping, it`s a very good project, in a very few months, you will be earning a lot of money from it, this will boost your income", he stressed.

Fr. Joseph Odongo, the parish priest of Ngai Catholic parish thanked Honorable Alum for considering the servants of God in some of her empowerment projects. "My fellow servants of God, I encourage you to keep these chickens well to support your families,"  he noted.

Joseph Scovia Okulu, Head catechist of Ngai Catholic parish said this empowerment project is timely because catechists spend most of their time in doing God's work. He called upon the other politicians and stakeholders to emulate honorable Alum and also support God's servants so that their household income can also improve.
