Moyo
Uganda People’s Defense Forces (UPDF) has successfully conducted the recruitment   and verification exercise for the shortlisted candidates for Moyo and Obongi districts.

The exercise that commenced on July 1, 2024 conducted at Celecelea stadium included medical screening of the candidates, physical tests and verification of academic documents.

Captain Edwin Mawanda the west Nile region UPDF spokesperson explained that the exercise was conducted with minimal challenges though some of the candidates presented the same names plus lack of qualification. ‘‘We have finished the exercise as per moyo and Obongi districts with 19 recruits from Moyo, and 9 recruits from Obongi who will be taken to the collection center for further management,” he was quoted saying .

Mr.  Aleru Tom Aza the Member of Parliament West Moyo constituency encouraged the youth to study so as to qualify and competently compete for government recruitment programs sighting cases of forgery and falsification of document among the candidates during the exercise. ‘‘In the screening it was discovered that there are youth who came with forged results and documents, what I expect them to do is to stay in school so that when such opportunities come they are  be able to qualify ,’’ he empathized .

The Deputy Resident District Commissioner Moyo Mr. Julian Ssekamwa noted that the target for the recruitment was achieved. ‘‘We have conducted our recruitment in Moyo for UPDF, the procedure has gone on seamlessly we have not had any challenges I think it is first of its kind, we have achieved our quarter and we have no gaps, yes the shortlist had many people but some of them dropped on medical condition, age and academic issues,’’ he pointed

The UPDF nationwide recruitment exercise that started on July 1, will end on July 14 2024.
