Moyo town council on Wednesday evening summarized the independence celebration with the longest fireworks ever registered in the district which did last for about 25 Minutes bringing large crowds from all corners of Moyo including the neighbors from Kajo Keji County central Equatorial state in south Sudan.

The crowd raising their excitement during the fireworks expressed their happiness towards the authority of the town council saying at least they have enjoyed the independence with their children than those past years  where their young kids used to roam around the streets even entering bad places like disco halls that could mislead and spoil them.

Mawa Benson a resident of Moyo town said it had been one of the longest fireworks in Moyo town that has brought the community together for unity and together.
He further appealed to the town council authorities to carry on with such activities because most parents attended together with their children.

Meanwhile Hon Charles Tiondi, workers representative in Moyo district, said he feels so good and happy about the fireworks display because it is a rare opportunity.
“Majority of the people have never witnessed this, if it’s done here in Moyo it’s also taking us to another level because people could only see this at midnight when entering the New Year,” Charles said.

SSP Joseph Mwesigye Regional Police commander North West Nile said it’s a history in the entire sub Region. “It was a very good experience to have this fireworks for 25 minutes, I think it has hit a record in west Nile for 25 minutes, people went back home peacefully with their children because we wanted them in school the following morning,” Mwesigye echoed.

According to Chandiga Ceaser, the town council chairperson, Madi sub region is older than Uganda so needs to be accorded the respect. “For us as Madi, we are older than Uganda, my happiness is when young people, families are happy enjoying the fireworks and after the fireworks they go home and then children go back to school,” Ceaser noted

The LC 3 Chairperson added that this is going to be the culture of having fireworks in such festivities to avoid misleading the children were they end up in disco places and with wrong groups.
