Moyo District leaders called for hard work and re-commitment among the locals during the 62 Independence Day celebrations. The day was celebrated under the theme ‘‘Re-commitment to secure and fortify our destiny’’

Hon. Chandiga Ceaser the LC3 chairperson Moyo Town Council encouraged people of Madi to fully participate in agriculture to eliminate poverty. ‘‘The backbone of madi is agriculture, when you move to all farms here in Moyo like Lefori and other places where our people are farming, we are bringing man power from other districts which is very unfortunate, The ones who are engaged in cattle keeping in moyo, we are now employing people from other areas to take care of our cattle’ ’he said.

Ms. Jesca Angeritho the Chief Administrative Officer Moyo District said, the people in Moyo will be independent only when they take business and farming serious. ‘‘For us to be independent, we need to work very hard people of Moyo. Sometimes when they talk about business, I even don’t see it here in Moyo. Even farming I don’t see it, where I worked from, Nwoya District people take farming serious’ ’she emphasized.

Hon .Andu Richard Opeli who represented the office the LC5 added that Madi people should stop laziness and blaming others for their own makings. ‘‘Our people are lazy but they are good at criticism, our people don’t love themselves but they are good at blaming others. If I may ask, who do you blame? Begin by blaming yourself before you blame others. So it’s our sole responsibility to ensure that we collectively develop Moyo District together’ ’he lamented.

Mr. Gore Goffine the residence District Commissioner Moyo district asked stakeholders to work together in order to develop. ‘‘We need re-commit ourselves to work together, come to my office and give me advice because I learn from you too. I will make sure I implement and we move forward’’, the RDC assured.
