12 YOUTHS WITH DISABILITIES IN ARUA CITY TO BENEFIT FROM HANDS ON SKILLING

Arua City

Youths with disabilities in Arua central division Arua City are to benefit from “promote skilling and works readiness among youths with disabilities“ project tailored at exploring the potential of youths with disabilities in the areas of education, health, livelihood community rehabilitation and advocacy.

This project also focuses at empowering the youths with disabilities with quality competency based vocational training.

The coordinator of Action for transformation of youths with disabilities Maxwell Asiku says that under the project, 12 youths will acquire hands on skills aimed at improving their livelihoods “The projects is aimed at skilling youths with disabilities in hair dressing and styling in order to ensure that we support them learn something from this project.”

The city disability focal point person Florence Badaru urges the youths to embrace such opportunities while encouraging the parents to have a positive mindset to support them. “So my youth, we have the project now we will want to see the impact of this project it will be the impact that will help to lobby for more funds, we still have parents who still hide persons with disabilities it’s now time for us to bring all those persons with disability out.”

The chairperson of disability persons in Arua city Prince Swale says that this project has come in handy to empower the youths with disabilities with means of live hoods. “There so many youths with disabilities who have not gone to school and are kept at home as padlocks so we think such a project is good that  it will save the youths  from  joining those groups like of drugs, begging on the streets,, so am happy for this project.”

The one year project under action for transformation of youths with disabilities community based organization, is funded by the global fund for human rights.
