MOYO TOWN COUNCIL APPROVES BUDGET AND WORK PLAN FOR THE FINANCIAL YEAR 2024/2025

Moyo town council has approved a budget of Ugandan shillings one billion, one hundred thirty six million, nine hundred, ten thousand, four hundred and five 1,136,910,405= for the financial year 2024/25.

The council also approved departmental work plans, revenue enhancement plans, recruitment and capacity building plans and procurement plans for the next fiscal year.

Hon. Anyama Charles the secretary for finance presented the draft budget for council`s approval and appreciated the technocrats and political leaders of the council for the contribution in coming up with the budget. “The committee analyzed the areas of general budget principles, revenue expects to collect and expand over 12 months.

Key outcomes the council intends to achieve, what the budget is aiming to achieve and how it shall contribute in achieving some of the key objectives of the council.” Hon. Anyama said  
 
Hon. Letaru Gladys the women councilor for Besia parish asked for consideration of priorities during the implementation of the approved budget. “In the last financial year, most of our priorities were not fulfilled. There thing which went unfunded, this time as we approve the budget, let us work on our priorities.”  Hon. Letaru said.

The approved budget catered for administration, finance, production, public health, education, roads and engineering, natural resources and other departments.

Hon. Dawa Zabib, the female youth councilor appealed to the council to venture in valuable economic activities to increase revenue base.
She said if the council could take advantage from such areas, the revenue of the town council will increase.

Out of the Ugandan shillings one billion, one hundred thirty six million, nine hundred and ten thousand four hundred and five 1,136,910,405= for 2024/2025, the council proposed four hundred thirty seven million nine hundred seventy four thousand and nine hundred 437, 974, 900= shillings to come from local revenue and six hundred ninety eighty million nine hundred thirty five thousand five hundred five 698,935,505= shillings from government grants.

Meanwhile the town council chairperson Hon. Chandiga Ceaser in remark on the budget called the leaders to note irregularities and delays from government releases. He said it because the town council have adopted a good management styles from which people are not feeling much of the challenges.

On the expenditure allocation, 45 % will go for wages and salaries, 36% will go for non-wage recurrent and 19% will be for development/domestic. The budget has been approved in line with national development priorities and moyo town local governments’ five years development plans.
